  1. Additional information to aid with dating later bottles:
    "Period after Opening" ( POA ) labeling was introduced in 2005. This is the open jar symbol with a no. of months inside indicating the "Minimum Durability" if the contents after opening.


    As it is mandatory only if the period is 36 months or less ( all fragrance is safe beyond that due to the alcohol content ) it may not be on all bottles ( in practice many big manufacturers are adopting it )
    HOWEVER if it is present then the bottle MUST date from 2005 or later.

    Thus it can be used in this way as an additional check.

    EG if the Batch Code could be 1996 or 2006 but the POA is present then it must be 2006..

Keep in mind that it's nearly impossible to determine whether a perfume is "authentic" or "counterfeit" based on the description alone. It's extremely difficult to tell, even with photographs. Fake or counterfeit perfume manufacturers have reached such a high level of sophistication that it's impossible to determine the authenticity of a perfume without actually holding it in your hands.
